In the years that I’ve lived in Sarasota, I can honestly say that fun is never in short supply. There is so much to do across our gorgeous city, but I’ve selected my top five experiences for you to try. Whether you’re a new resident or a Sarasota native, if you’re looking for a good time, look no further! 

If you’re looking to support local businesses…

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of my neighborhood, The Meadows. The community boasts several things to do on its own, but one of my favorites is The Meadows Farmers Market. The seasonal market offers all sorts of goodies – from fresh produce to hand-crafted soaps, jewelry and more! Be sure to check it out starting Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Sunday. 

If you’re looking to stop and smell the roses…

Florida may be known for tourist attractions, beaches and exotic wildlife, but the state is also home to tropical flora that will take your breath away! If you need to take a break and step away from your technology, might I suggest Marie Selby Botanical Gardens? 

If you’re looking to shop… 

Shopping in Sarasota is a must – especially when it comes to viewing goods from local vendors. One of my favorite places to shop ‘til I drop is at UTC Sarasota. There are several wonderful boutique options also available on Main Street in Downtown Sarasota, St. Armand’s Circle and Lake Wood Ranch Main Street Market.

If you’re looking to go to the beach…

Sarasota is home to many gorgeous beaches. From Anna Maria Bayfront Park to Venice Beach – you can find a spot to swim, fish, sail or simply read and take in the views. Find the right beach for you with Sarasota Magazine’s guide. 

If you’re looking to “wine” down…

Are you looking for a nice spot to grab dinner and a glass of your favorite vino? You’re going to want to check out Pier 22 in downtown Bradenton. The indoor-outdoor bar and restaurant has more than 100 varieties to choose from.
