Floridians’ confidence trends upward

Those living in the Sunshine State are feeling good! The Florida Consumer Confidence Index, which is measured monthly by the University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research, was released on April 30. It states that Floridians’ consumer sentiment now sits at 102, making it the highest it has been in 17 years!

Three components go into measuring how consumer confidence will impact the citizens’ futures — expectations of personal financial situations a year from now, expectations of U.S. economic conditions over the next year, as well as those over the next five years. All three aspects saw upticks in confidence last month.

To make matters even better, Floridians are now making more money. Personal income increased 5.2% in 2018, 0.6% more than that of the national average, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. All things considered, the real estate market should benefit from these increases. With consumer confidence and personal income increasing, those looking to buy are more likely to sign on the dotted line to purchase homes or condos like the one shown here in The Meadows. Home prices may not see reductions because of this, so buyers may pay more than they would if Floridians had reported a decrease in confidence. Overall, those living in the Sunshine State see their future and the future of the state economy as quite bright.
